Whitney Smith has a diverse work experience starting in 2011 when they worked as a Court Clerk at the St. Francois County Circuit Clerk's Office. In this role, they handled various court clerical tasks and collaborated with judges on legal matters until 2014. From 2014 to 2018, they transitioned to a Management Analyst position at Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health, where they conducted organizational studies and evaluations, providing recommendations for operational improvements. Whitney then took on the role of Director of Performance Improvement & Patient Experience from 2018 to 2020 at the same organization. In 2020, they became the Chief Risk Management Officer, responsible for the operational risk management program and compliance with accreditation standards. Currently, Whitney holds the position of Vice President of Risk Management at Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health.

Whitney Smith's education history began in 2006 when they attended Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Missouri. There, they pursued an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in General Studies, which they completed in 2007. Following this, they enrolled at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2007 and studied History for two years, though they did not obtain a degree. In 2009, they transferred to Columbia College and earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in History in 2010. Continuing to pursue higher education, they attended American Military University from 2011 to 2014, where they earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Intelligence Studies.
