Alfred Coats is an experienced leader in the life sciences and investment sectors, serving as the Chairman of the Board at Millar, Inc. since February 2019 and as the Life-Sciences Chairman for the Houston Angel Network since February 2016. Coats is also an Investor Member within the Houston Angel Network and has been an Advisory Trustee at Southwest Research Institute since January 2015. As the Managing Partner of AlphaQuest Consulting LLC since July 2014, responsibilities include evaluating potential investments, fund raising, and market analysis. Previous leadership roles include President and CEO of Life-Tech, Inc. from August 1983 to December 2013 and Professor at Baylor College of Medicine for nearly three decades. Coats held the position of Director of the Division of Space Life Sciences at the Universities Space Research Association from September 1990 to April 2001. Educational achievements include a Doctor of Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine and a Master’s Degree in Physiology from Baylor University.
