George Sammit

George Sammit has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. George has recently worked as a Principal Computer Scientist at Southwest Research Institute since 2022. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Software Engineer at IBM Cloud Infrastructure Fabric Engine starting in 2021. George also has a long history at Southwest Airlines, where they held positions as a Product Owner and Senior Software Engineer Technical Lead since 2001. In addition, they worked as a Senior Consultant at Scientific Software Engineering from 1996 to 2001, providing software development services to the telecommunications industry. Before that, George served in the US Army Reserve as a Military Police from 1992 to 2000.

George earned a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Michigan College of Engineering in 1995. In 2017, they completed a Master's Degree with High Distinction in Information Technology Project Management from the University of Michigan - Rackham Graduate School. Currently, George is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science from the SMU Lyle School of Engineering.
