Augustus L. (Fritz) Owens II, Colonel (Retired) U.S. Army, has a diverse and extensive work experience in the military and cybersecurity fields.

Augustus L. (Fritz) started their career in 1984 in the US Army, serving in various roles and assignments including the 82nd Airborne Division, 2nd Infantry Division in Korea, 1st Armored Division during Desert Storm/Desert Shield, and the US Army Special Forces Command. Augustus L. (Fritz) also had assignments with the US Strategic Command, Army Materiel Command, The Joint Staff, The Army Staff, and the US Army Military District of Washington. Throughout their military career, they earned certification badges as a Joint Staff, Army Staff, and Master Parachutist.

In 2010, Owens joined the United States Cyber Command, where they played a key role in developing the organization from scratch. Augustus L. (Fritz) hired and trained a team of 12 personnel and oversaw over 100 personnel responsible for operations, readiness, training, and exercises. Augustus L. (Fritz) also created and implemented policies and procedures for cyberspace operations, coordinated schedules with subordinate organizations, coalition, and interagency partners, and provided operational reporting to facilitate senior leadership decision making.

Following their tenure at the United States Cyber Command, Owens worked at Booz Allen Hamilton as a Senior Lead Engineer and Command and Control Systems Engineer. In this role, they formulated, reviewed, and coordinated with clients on various strategic Command and Control (C2) systems. Augustus L. (Fritz) also applied C2 engineering and operations principles to propose design alternatives, facilitated working groups and governance bodies, and developed and maintained software system architectures.

Owens' work experience also includes roles at Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. as a Cyberspace Operations Program Analyst, where they provided subject matter expertise and staff support for the Cyber Warfare Directorate. Augustus L. (Fritz) also worked as a Defense Research Analyst Lead/Army Expert for the Defense Intelligence Group, where they served as a business strategist and lead defense research analyst on Army Network Architecture and Cyber Operations projects.

Throughout their career, Owens has demonstrated expertise in cyberspace operations, strategic planning, command and control systems, and defense intelligence. Their experience spans across both military and civilian sectors, showcasing their ability to adapt and excel in various work environments.

Augustus L. (Fritz) Owens II, Colonel (Retired) U.S. Army, has a Master's degree in Strategic Studies from The United States Army War College. Augustus L. (Fritz) also holds a Master's degree in Public Administration from Strayer University. Prior to their Master's degrees, Owens earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from South Carolina State University. In addition to their formal education, Owens has obtained several certifications, including the Fundamentals of Systems Acquisition Management from the Defense Acquisition University, the Agile Expert Certificate of Proficiency from ICAgile, and the IT Information Library Foundations Certification from AXELOS Global Best Practice. Owens has also completed the Contracting Officer Representative course at the Army Logistics University and has received training in Cyberspace Operations Planning and Inspector General Course from the U.S. Army.
