Peng Yin

Co-Founder, Director at Spear Bio

Peng Yin has extensive work experience in the field of systems biology and biologically inspired engineering. Peng started their career in 2010 as an Assistant Professor of Systems Biology at Harvard Medical School, where they quickly progressed to become an Associate Professor and then a Professor in the same field. Concurrently, in 2010, they also joined the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering as a Core Faculty Member. In the years that followed, Peng Yin co-founded and served as a director for multiple companies, including Spear Bio Inc. in 2021, Torus Biosystems in 2019, NuProbe, Inc. in 2016, and Ultivue, Inc. in 2015. Peng'sexpertise and leadership in these ventures demonstrate their commitment to innovation and advancing the field.

Peng Yin began their education in 1994 at Peking University, where they completed a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology as well as a Bachelor of Economics in 1998. Following this, they pursued a Master's degree in Molecular Cancer Biology at Duke University from 1998 to 2000. Peng further continued their education at Duke University and obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Science from 2000 to 2005. Afterward, Peng Yin joined Caltech as a Postdoctoral Fellow of Computer Science and Bioengineering for the period of 2005 to 2009.
