Jing Chen

Associate Director, Business Development at Spirovant

Jing Chen has a diverse work experience in the field of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. They began their career as a Research Assistant at Genetel Pharmaceuticals Ltd in 2003. Later, they worked at the Penn Center for Innovation as a PCI Fellow, evaluating inventions, drafting tech summaries, and identifying potential licensors. In 2013, Jing Chen joined the University of Pennsylvania as a Postdoctoral Fellow, leading a team to develop a proteomic platform and analyzing patient samples. They then joined Inovio Pharmaceuticals Inc. in 2016, initially as a Scientist in Antigen Design and later as a Senior Scientist in Antigen and Therapeutic Protein Design. At Inovio, they designed vaccines and therapeutic proteins, led a cross-functional team in developing scientific software, and prepared CMC documents for IND submissions. Most recently, Jing Chen worked at Spirovant Sciences, Inc. as a Principal Scientist and later as an Associate Director of Business Development. At Spirovant, they evaluated CDMOs, negotiated contracts, and led advisory teams to prioritize external opportunities aligned with the company's strategy.

Jing Chen's education history begins in 1999 when they attended Tsinghua University and completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Science and Technology in 2003. They then pursued further education at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from 2004 to 2012. During their doctoral studies, they also earned a Certificate in Management for Scientists and Engineers from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management in 2011.
