We are seeking candidates for full cycle in-house payroll specialist. This is a full-time position.

The payroll specialist is a member of the accounting team that will ensure accurate processing and recording of all company payroll, including union and non-union, on a weekly basis for over 100 employees.

A successful candidate will have a strong payroll background, provide accurate certified payroll reports to various public entities, and work closely with the accounting and operations department to ensure accurate payroll operations.

This position is a vital piece of our company and requires a strong attention to detail and extensive union payroll knowledge including wage scales, prevailing wage, Davis Bacon Act, union fringe reporting, garnishments, and various other tax laws. Strong organizational skills, self-sufficient, maintain a strict level of confidentiality, and being able to maintain composure under stress are very important skills for this position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Weekly, full cycle in-house payroll processing for 100-150 employees

    • Collect, review, and correct timecard data
    • Import data into Sage Timberline, process, and post
    • Ensure accuracy of employee vacation and sick time, benefit deductions, worker’s compensation information, and garnishments
    • Pay weekly multi-state and federal payroll taxes
  • Maintain employee information

    • Manage confidential employee documents
    • Onboard and offboard employees
    • Process employee changes including job titles, employee information, rate increases, W-4 withholdings, direct deposits, and 401k deductions
  • Prepare and process employee reimbursements

  • Ensure accurate completion and filing of all compliance reporting and audits

    • Process certified payrolls accurately on a weekly basis
    • Respond to verification of employment requests within 48 hours
    • I-9 Verifications
    • Union fringe benefits and worker’s compensation
    • W2s and quarterly federal and state filings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Skills and Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of payroll experience required

  • Union construction industry experience preferred

  • Certified payroll knowledge preferred

  • Ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality required

  • Proficient Level of understanding in Microsoft Office Products such as Excel, Word and Microsoft 365 required

  • Knowledge of Sage Timberline, Bamboo HR, and hh2 preferred

  • Be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and possess strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to work within a team or independently.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing, walking, and sitting.

  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs

  • Must be able to work at a computer desk for extended periods of time.

Compensation:

$60,000-$65,000 yearly depending on experience
