Kurt van Horn

Associate Director CMC Synthetic Chemistry at SpringWorks Therapeutics

Kurt Van Horn has extensive experience in the field of chemistry, with a particular focus on process development and manufacturing. Kurt is currently working at SpringWorks Therapeutics as the Associate Director of CMC Synthetic Chemistry. Prior to this, they worked at Cambrex as an Associate Manager and Senior Research Scientist, where they managed a team of chemists and supported technical transfers to other sites. Before Cambrex, Kurt worked at Avista Pharma Solutions (now part of Cambrex) as a Senior Research Scientist and Research Scientist, where they were responsible for process optimization and client communication. Kurt also has experience in academia, having worked as a Postdoctoral Scholar at both UCSF and Northeastern University. At UCSF, they focused on utilizing Structure-Based Drug Design for Alzheimer's therapies, while at Northeastern, they assisted with laboratory equipment setup and vendor coordination. Kurt's career in research began at the University of South Florida, where they served as a Research Assistant, Adjunct Instructor, and Postdoctoral Scholar.

Kurt Van Horn received a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemistry from the University of South Florida in 2007. Kurt then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry at the same university from 2007 to 2013. In 2002, they attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls as a non-degree seeking student. Additionally, in 2015 to 2016, they were part of the UCSF-Stanford CERSI program, specializing in the Center of Excellence in Regulatory Science and Innovation.
