Jon Bornstein, GCIH, GDSA

Jon Bornstein has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the technology and security field. Jon started their professional journey as a Help Desk Technician II at Framingham State University, where they provided technical support to students, faculty, and staff. Jon then moved on to The MathWorks as a System Support Specialist, where they handled configuration, troubleshooting, and upgrades for a large user campus.

Jon gained further experience at Microsoft, serving as a Technical Advisor and Small Business Consultant. Jon provided troubleshooting and repair services for Microsoft products while also creating customized solutions for small businesses. Jon also attended networking events and conducted lead generation activities to build and maintain relationships.

After Microsoft, Jon worked as a NOC Engineer Tier 1 at Wayfair, where they provided immediate system support to the company's userbase. Jon then joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston as a Systems Technician, focusing on the Stored Value Card (SVC) program.

In 2018, Jon joined ClearDATA as a Security Engineer, specializing in HIPAA-compliant cloud computing. Jon deployed and managed security solutions such as Trend Micro Deep Security, conducted audits on cloud providers, and created policies for data loss prevention and application control.

Currently, Jon works as a Security Engineer at SpyCloud, where they continue to apply their expertise in security and engineering.

Jon Bornstein earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Information Systems from Framingham State University. Jon attended the university from 2008 to 2013. In addition to their degree, Jon has obtained several certifications, including Jamf Certified Technician from Jamf in February 2018, GIAC Defensible Security Architecture (GDSA) from GIAC Certifications in August 2021, GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) from GIAC Certifications in February 2021, AWS Certified Security – Specialty from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in February 2020, Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate from Microsoft in September 2020, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in November 2018, and Deep Security 11 Certified Professional from Trend Micro in January 2019. Jon also serves on the GIAC Advisory Board, having obtained the position in February 2021.
