Michael Poimboeuf

Head Of Engineering & Senior Principal Research Scientist, Technology Transition Group at SRI International

Michael Poimboeuf has extensive experience in engineering and research roles in various companies. From 2002 to 2009, they worked as a Consulting Engineer and Senior Manager at Digidesign and Avid Technology. Michael then joined Corsair in 2009 as a Senior Manager, leading their product development activities and establishing their audio product line. In 2012, they became the Director of Engineering at EarLens, where they managed various engineering aspects of their FDA hearing device. Michael then worked at Aether Things as the Director of Audio and Electrical Engineering, overseeing the development of the Aether Things Cone smart speaker. In 2016, they served as the Vice President of Starkey Hearables. From 2020 to 2023, they were a Senior Manager II at Xerox, managing the New Product Introduction for the DARPA Ocean of Things program. Michael also held roles at PARC, where they were the Head of Engineering and a Senior Principal Research Scientist, and Preumbra LLC, where they were the Managing Director & CEO, providing consultancy services in various domains including consumer, health/medical, sound, video, defense, and marine systems. In 2023, they joined SRI International as the Head of Engineering & Senior Principal Research Scientist for the Technology Transition Group. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated expertise in engineering execution, product development, research, and advisory services.

Michael Poimboeuf has a MSEE and BSEE degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, Communications, DSP, and Electroacoustics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Michael also holds an Advanced Certification in Screenwriting from UCLA's Theatre, Television and Film Professional Program in Screenwriting. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) Operation, Advanced Screenwriting from UCLA, Screenwriting from UCLA, PADI Open Water Diver, and is a White Water trip leader, instructor, and guide from Hoofers Outing Club at the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
