Shruti Deshpande

Associate Professor at St John's University

Dr. Shruti Deshpande is an Associate Professor and a Vincentian Research Fellow (2022-2024) at St. John’s University. She is an audiologist by training and her research focuses on auditory perception and processing. Since 2017, Dr. Deshpande has investigated accessible and affordable hearing health services for diverse and vulnerable populations.

Dr. Deshpande has published on issues at the intersection of audiology and social justice and has been a recipient of several prestigious internal and external grants. She is passionate about teaching and teaches undergraduate, MA (SLP), and Doctor of Audiology (AuD) courses. She has mentored several undergraduate and graduate students on research projects. Dr. Deshpande’s students have presented at conferences, served as her coauthors on peer-reviewed publications in prestigious journals, and have also secured student grants.

In September 2022, Dr. Deshpande was a recipient of the ‘The Faculty Research Consortium Excellence Award in Community Based Outcomes and Poverty Research’.

Dr. Deshpande’s has been appointed as a board member of the Multicultural Issues Board of the American Speech Language Hearing Association for a three-year term from January 1st, 2023, to December 31st, 2025.
