Ellie Gathings

Ellie Gathings has a diverse work experience in the field of housing and residence life. Ellie began their career in 2015 as a Graduate Assistant for the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of South Carolina, where they facilitated career planning sessions and supervised Career Ambassadors. Ellie also worked as a Desk Assistant for South Area, serving as a resource for housing operations and ensuring safety in the residence hall.

In 2016, Ellie became a Practicum Student at CarolinaLIFE, where they designed programming for students with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities. Ellie also served as a Residential Intern at The University of Colorado Boulder- Summer Discovery, supervising Resident Counselors and organizing educational trips for students.

Ellie then joined the University of South Carolina as an Assistant Residence Life Coordinator in the Women's Quad, overseeing Resident Mentors and developing a residential educational curriculum. Ellie also advised the Hall Government and managed a budget for community development programs.

Ellie then worked as an Assistant Director at Regis University, using StarRez as a Power User and coordinating various housing processes. Ellie also served as a trauma-informed crisis first responder for students.

In 2022, Ellie joined Hollins University as the Director of Housing and Residence Life. Most recently, starting in 2023, Ellie has been employed as a New Business Account Executive at StarRez, Inc., where they are responsible for acquiring new business accounts.

Ellie then pursued higher education and obtained a degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of South Carolina from 2015 to 2017.

In terms of additional certifications, Ellie obtained a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education in May 2021. Ellie also completed BRAVE (Building Responsible Advocates for Violence Education) training in October 2014.
