Richard Penny is an experienced senior researcher and analyst at Statistics New Zealand, with a career spanning from December 1983 to the present. Richard has held various roles, including acting Manager of Statistical Methods and acting Chief Analyst, overseeing teams of statisticians and managing business planning, budgeting, and recruitment. As a Mathematical Statistician, Richard worked on significant projects like survey designs and the Population Census. In addition to their work at Statistics New Zealand, Richard serves as an Adjunct Fellow at the University of Canterbury, providing supervision and teaching support to graduate and undergraduate students. Richard holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Canterbury, completed between 1975 and 1977.
