Thom Lawrence

Thom Lawrence has a diverse work experience in various technology-related roles. Thom served as the Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of StatsBomb, a football analytics startup. In this role, Thom played a key role in growing the company to more than 500 employees and acquiring customers from top tiers of the industry. Thom was responsible for hiring and managing an engineering team and contributed to the design, development, and implementation of web applications, APIs, and processing pipelines.

Before StatsBomb, Thom was the CEO of Delver, where they focused on developing a platform for natural language queries over structured data. Thom also worked on creating a fast, multi-core natural language parser and a compiler from query semantics to SQL.

Thom also has experience as a Data Analyst at SK Slavia Praha - fotbal a.s., where they provided consultancy, data, and models during the club's data-driven recruitment process. This contribution led to successful player signings and significant transfer profits for the club.

Additionally, Thom served as the CTO of HOTWOOFY LIMITED, where they worked on a variety of client projects and personal products. Thom developed a machine learning-based baby names app and worked on projects ranging from Flash and iOS apps to 3D JavaScript rendering.

Earlier in their career, Thom worked as a Software Engineer at Rockshore Limited, leading a project with Vodafone to mitigate bill shock from roaming 3G usage. Thom also worked as a Senior Web Developer at Technophobia, where they led and hired teams and projects for various clients. Prior to that, they worked as a Web Developer at the Kent Messenger Group, focusing on maintaining and building analytical solutions and experimenting with new technologies.
