Hamza Siddiqui

Hamza Siddiqui has a diverse range of work experience in various industries. Hamza is currently the Head of Compliance at Step, where they lead and manages the fintech's compliance team and strategy. Hamza also serves as a Board Member at SafeAI Advisors, helping banks, companies, and community groups safely navigate artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Prior to their current roles, Hamza worked at Upstart as the Manager of Consumer Compliance and Machine Learning. In this role, they partnered with Product, Legal, and Machine Learning teams to address challenges related to AI and ML use in credit and lending. Hamza was also responsible for managing and scaling the team.

Before joining Upstart, Hamza worked as a Consultant at Treliant, providing banking compliance and risk leadership for consumer, credit, product, and operations. Their responsibilities included conducting analysis, creating policies and procedures, managing projects, and representing the firm in various settings.

Hamza's earlier experience includes roles at T. Rowe Price, where they served as an Associate in Cash Management and Private Placements. Hamza also worked as a Global Equity Portfolio Assistant, Portfolio Assistant and Sub-advisory Associate, and an Investment and Operations Intern during their time at the company.

Additionally, Hamza has worked as a Legislative Intern at the State of Maryland, a Judicial Intern at the Circuit Court of Howard County, and a Domestic Economics Intern at the United States Senate. Hamza also gained experience as a Financial Analyst Intern at SSSI Corp., where they were involved in website redesign, evaluating and providing recommendations for software redesign, and maintaining client relationships.

Throughout their career, Hamza has developed expertise in compliance, regulatory affairs, AI/ML model fairness and explainability, banking, risk assessments, and more.
