João Tiago Ascensão

João Tiago Ascensão has a diverse work experience in various roles and positions. João Tiago is currently working as the VP of AI at Stratio since January 2023. Prior to that, they founded Shilling in April 2021 and continues to serve as the Founder LP. João Tiago has also worked at Feedzai from June 2019 to November 2022, holding the positions of Senior Director, AI Research and Director, AI Research. Ascensão has been associated with Lisbon Data Science Academy since June 2017, where they served as the Head of Curriculum from February 2018 to June 2020 and as a Data Science Instructor from June 2017 to June 2020. João Tiago has also worked at Farfetch, where they were the Senior Manager, Data Science from February 2019 to May 2019 and the Lead Data Scientist from March 2018 to February 2019. Ascensão held the position of Head of Data at Uniplaces from September 2017 to February 2018, and prior to that, they were the Lead Data Scientist from September 2016 to August 2017 and a Data Scientist from September 2015 to August 2016. Earlier in their career, Ascensão worked as a Senior Market Research Analyst at ComparaJá.pt (CompareEuropeGroup) from April 2015 to September 2015 and as a Business Analyst at CA Seguros (Crédito Agrícola) from February 2012 to April 2015.

João Tiago Ascensão completed their BSc in Economics at the Nova School of Business and Economics from 2006 to 2010. João Tiago then pursued an Erasmus Program at HEC Liège in 2008-2009 as part of their BSc studies. In 2010-2012, they continued their education at ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics & Management, earning an MSc in Development Economics.

In terms of additional certifications, João obtained various certifications through Coursera. These include "Structuring Machine Learning Projects" in July 2018, "Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization" in May 2018, "Neural Networks and Deep Learning" in April 2018, "Big Data Analysis with Scala and Spark" in April 2017, "Parallel Programming" in February 2017, "Functional Program Design in Scala" in January 2017, "Functional Programming Principles in Scala" in December 2016, "Introduction to Recommender Systems" in February 2016, "Exploratory Data Analysis" in June 2015, "Reproducible Research" in June 2015, "Getting and Cleaning Data" in May 2015, and "R Programming" in March 2015.

Additionally, João completed an "Introduction to Apache Spark" course from edX, but the dates of completion are not provided.
