Matthew Smith

Matthew Smith has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Matthew is currently serving as the Chief Financial Officer and a Member of the Board of Directors at Stronghold Digital Mining since April 2022 and November 2021, respectively. Prior to that, Matthew worked at Deep Basin Capital LP as the Founder & Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer from February 2017 to March 2022. Matthew also has experience at Surveyor Capital / Citadel as a Portfolio Manager - Energy from June 2010 to January 2016. Before that, they worked at Highfields Capital as an Analyst in 2009. Matthew's earlier experience includes working as an Analyst at Copper Arch Capital, LLC from July 2005 to December 2007 and as a Financial Analyst at Equity Office Properties Trust from August 2001 to May 2003.

Matthew Smith completed their Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance at The University of Iowa Tippie College of Business. Matthew then pursued a Master's degree in Finance at the Wisconsin School of Business from 2003 to 2005. In August 2005, Matthew obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification from the CFA Institute.
