Position Summary

This role will be the Head of Immunology and Inflammation (I&I) Biology, provide scientific leadership to I&I biology and discovery pipeline, and closely work with the Head of Biology to contribute to the overall company discovery portfolio strategy. This role will build and lead Immunology and Inflammation Biology team, recruit talents, and use their experience and skills to lead preclinical programs for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. This role will closely collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive discovery programs.   

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide scientific leadership to immunology and inflammation (I&I) biology and discovery pipeline.
  • Identify possible therapeutic targets, establish I&I portfolio strategy, and work with multifunctional teams for execution of that strategy.
  • Lead biology for discovery programs for I&I pipeline. Lead the efforts to establish assays and/or animal models to validate targets and to discover therapeutics. Oversee the design and execution of in-vivo studies in disease models either on an internal basis or with external partners.
  • Interpret and analyze data as well as present progress to internal stakeholders and external collaborators.
  • Develop and lead the immunology and inflammation biology team. Recruit talents. Lead, mentor, and train team members.
  • Ensure high scientific standard and high-quality research.
  • Ensure efficient collaboration with cross-functional project teams, effective communication, and stakeholder management.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • PhD in immunology or similar field with at least 10 years of post-doctoral experience and 5+ years in industry
  • Deep knowledge in Immunology and Inflammation biology and MOA of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases
  • Experience in human and mouse immunology as well as animal models of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
  • Experience with directing programs from discovery to IND
  • Previous experience with people management is required.
  • Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills, strong leadership and collaboration skills, efficient time management, and high degree of flexibility.
