The Field Engineer, PV and Energy Storage Position   Sunnova Energy Corporation is currently searching for a PV and Energy Storage Field Engineer for the Technical Operations Department. The Domestic United States is a growing market for solar energy with energy storage due to the instability of pricing structure and, in some cases, frequency of grid outages. Our company is playing a key role in the energetic transformation of these markets through solar and energy storage systems. The PV and Energy Storage Field Engineer’s primary responsibility is to support partners and internal teams in the training, installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of PV systems, PV systems with energy storage, and energy management platforms. Employee will also set standards and write documents for internal and external stakeholders.  

Responsibilities 

  • Assists dealers and internal teams with the design, installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of PV & PV + storage systems
  • Provides onsite and/or remote training to internal/external stakeholders on new and existing technologies.
  • Provides training to service staff on identifying and resolving issues and product usage and maintenance.
  • Works closely with the Products team to evaluate recent technologies with focus on racking, mounting, PV, and BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) equipment.
  • Acts as OEM subject matter expert for the different technologies that Sunnova supports.
  • Attends pilot installations to evaluate technologies and provide technical support onsite.
  • Evaluates installations to ensure they meet company’s quality standards.
  • When delegated by manager, supports O&M (Operations & Maintenance) in managing and resolving customer concerns and issues in a timely manner and communicate/document progress to customer and relevant Sunnova employees.
  • Document control of all pertinent files.
  • Keeps up to date on technical knowledge and participates in educational training of new solar & storage technologies.
  • Completes quality assurance onsite and/or remote inspections, documenting corrective actions, and ensuring completion of corrective items within reasonable timelines.
  • Provides support for post weather events where damage to grid or customer PV/storage systems occurs.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.
  • Performs Weekly Reporting.

Minimum Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent discipline, Or an Electrical Journeyman’s license, Masters license, or proof of having completed a department of Labor (D.O.L.) approved electrical apprenticeship.
  • 4+ years relevant work experience
  • 2+ years solar experience
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
  • Effective communication skills and a professional attitude

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or Journeyman’s license.
  • NABCEP certified
  • PV installation and troubleshooting experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce software

Working Conditions

  • Remote-office environment (Work from home)
  • Estimated travel time: 40%
  • Able to travel upon short notice.

Physical Requirements

  • Extended periods of time working at computer workstation.
  • Able to lift, climb, and carry weight more than 30 lbs.
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time while on site.
