Matt Smith

Matt Smith has extensive work experience in the field of security and solutions architecture. Matt is currently working as the Director of Security at Supra ITS since June 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Lyrical Security as a Security Sales Specialist from August 2021 to May 2023. From 2012 to 2021, Matt worked at eSentire in various roles, including Senior Solutions Architect, Team Lead for Inside Solution Architects, Senior Inside Solutions Architect, Global Inside Solutions Architect, Inside Solution Architect, POC Specialist, Host Intrusion Analyst, Senior SOC Analyst, SOC Operations Team Lead, and SOC Team Lead. Before joining eSentire, they worked at OpenText as an Online Learning Developer in 2011 and at Waterloo Regional Police Service as a Personal Computer Specialist from January 2011 to April 2011. Matt also has experience working as a Recruitment Assistant at the University of Waterloo from September 2009 to December 2009.

Matt Smith earned a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from the University of Waterloo, completing their studies from 2008 to 2013. Matt later pursued a Master of Science in Cybersecurity at Munster Technological University, where they obtained a First Class Honours degree from 2017 to 2019. In addition to their formal education, Matt has acquired various certifications. These include the Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK) v4 from the Cloud Security Alliance, obtained in February 2021, and the Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) certification from (ISC)², obtained in July 2020. Prior to these, Matt obtained certifications such as Become a Leader from LinkedIn in December 2019, 140.6 Ironman Completion from IRONMAN in August 2017, CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner Certification from CompTIA in January 2017, Certified Ethical Hacker V9 from EC-Council in November 2016, CISSP - Certified Information Systems Security Professional from (ISC)² in May 2016, ITIL - IT Infrastructure Library Foundations from Pearson VUE in October 2015, and SSCP - System Security Certified Practitioner from (ISC)² in March 2015.
