G. Michael Preston

Senior Scientist at SwanBio Therapeutics

G. Michael Preston has had a successful career in the field of biotechnology. G. Michael began their career in 2010 as an IRTA Post-Baccalaureate Fellow at The National Institutes of Health. In 2011, they became a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of Pittsburgh, where they designed and optimized multiple cell biology and biochemical cell-based assays. G. Michael also supervised and mentored two undergraduate students and one graduate student. In 2018, they joined Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories as a Scientist III, where they trained in GxP and developed novel ion exchange methods for large molecule ID and charge variant quantification. In 2019, they joined Spark Therapeutics, Inc. as a Senior Scientist and Research Scientist - Liver Research & Discovery. There, they developed multiple immunological and non-immunological assays to assist in the submission of gene therapy INDs and led efforts to characterize gene therapy-derived therapeutics. Most recently, in 2022, they joined SwanBio Therapeutics as a Senior Scientist.

G. Michael Preston obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Cell Biology and Molecular Physiology from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine between 2011 and 2017. Prior to that, they received a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, General from St. Mary's College of Maryland between 2005 and 2009.
