Erin Butts

Erin Butts has a strong background in geospatial science and project management. Erin started their career in 2007 as a Barista at Starbucks before transitioning to roles in the environmental field. Erin worked as a Barista at Starbucks from 2007 to 2008 and again from 2013 to 2015. From 2009 to 2010, they served as a Route Rider at Associated Students Recycling of UC Santa Barbara. In 2011, Erin worked as an intern at Unite to Light, Inc., where they assisted in hosting informational booths and participated in various events/projects. In 2012, they volunteered as a Lab Assistant at the UCSB D'Antonio Lab, where they prepared soil and plant samples for analysis. Erin joined the US Fish and Wildlife Service in 2013 as a GIS Technician before transitioning to SWCA Environmental Consultants in 2014. At SWCA, they held several roles including GIS Database and Assessment Support Assistant, Geographic Information System Specialist, and Project Manager. Erin'swork at SWCA involved contracts with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, specifically the Columbia River Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office and Science Applications Columbia-Pacific Northwest Regional Office. Erin currently holds the position of Staff Geospatial Scientist at SWCA Environmental Consultants, a role they started in September 2021.

Erin Butts completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Barbara between 2008 and 2012. Following that, they pursued a Geographic Information Systems Certificate in Geographic Information Science and Cartography at Portland Community College from 2012 to 2013.

In terms of additional certifications, Erin obtained their Wilderness/Remote Location First Aid certification from NOLS Wilderness Medicine in May 2021. In December 2017, they obtained the Oregon Boater Education Card from the Oregon State Marine Board. Erin also earned the Open Water Diver certification from Scuba Schools International in May 2012. Additionally, they hold a First Aid/CPR/AED certification from the American Red Cross, although the specific month and year of obtaining it were not provided.
