Staff Biologist; Wetland Field Lead at SWCA

Karlen Cantu's work experience begins in 2015 as a Manager at Chick-fil-A Corporate, where they held the position for two years, focusing on developing employees and growing the team through coaching and training. In 2018, they worked as an Intern at FRIENDS OF THE EDDIE V GRAY WETLANDS EDUCATION CENTER INC, gaining experience in environmental tools and teaching various grade levels about topics such as pollution and animal life cycles. From 2019 to 2021, Karlen served as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Stephen F. Austin State University, assisting graduate students with field and laboratory work, as well as maintaining the soils lab. In 2021, they joined Conservation Equity Partners, LLC as a Geographic Information System Intern, participating in the creation of base maps and plot surveys for timber cruises and wetland/stream delineations.
