Phumlile Smith

Phumlile Smith has a diverse work experience in the financial industry. Phumlile is currently working as the Head: Manager Research at Sygnia Asset Management since November 2022. Prior to this, they were the Head of Institutional Client Research at Old Mutual Investment Group from October 2021 to November 2022.

From 2017 to 2021, Phumlile worked as a Manager Researcher Analyst at Absa Multi Management. Phumlile'sresponsibilities included conducting research for different asset classes, developing tools for execution of duties, managing their own research calendar, and ensuring work processes and procedures were followed.

Before that, Phumlile worked at Novare Actuaries and Consultants as a Manager Research Analyst from October 2015 to September 2017, and as a Fund Manager (Investment Consultant) from October 2014 to September 2015.

Phumlile started their career as an Employee Benefits Consultant at Alexander Forbes Financial from January 2008 to December 2009.

Phumlile Smith's education history begins with their completion of Matric at Chris Johan Botha Sekondere Skool in 2003. They then went on to obtain a BCom Economics and Econometrics degree from the University of Johannesburg in 2008. In 2012, they attended the Moonstone Business School of Excellence and obtained a Regulatory Exam RE5 degree. Phumlile completed an Advanced Diploma in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Johannesburg in 2015. They then pursued a BCom Honours degree in Economics at the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika, which was completed in 2020. Their most recent educational achievement is a Master's degree in Development Finance from the University of Cape Town, which they anticipate completing in 2022. Additionally, Phumlile has obtained certifications in Advanced Private Equity and Basic Private Equity from GIBS Business School and the Gordon Institute of Business Science, respectively, in 2016.
