Adam Hughes has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Adam is currently the Chief Technology Officer at Sylabs.io since January 2022, where they are responsible for leading the technology strategy and development of the company. Prior to this, Adam worked as a Software Architect at Sylabs.io from February 2018 to January 2022, where they contributed to the development of Singularity, an open source container solution, and designed multiple cloud services to support Singularity and its ecosystem.

Before joining Sylabs.io, Adam worked for the Government of Canada as a Software Systems Analyst from January 2006 to February 2018. In this role, they focused on performance and code quality, developing software for Windows, Linux, and VxWorks operating systems. Adam also had deep knowledge of OS internals, including real-time systems.

Adam also worked for the UK Government as a Technical Lead from November 2013 to September 2015. Adam was deployed by the Canadian Government to lead a team of developers on a major telecommunications project in Canada and the UK. Adam designed, built, and managed the rollout of a complex software system and provided mentorship to junior developers.

Additionally, Adam worked as a Client Server Developer at Emerging Information Systems Inc. in 2004, where they developed an internal enterprise Java application. Adam worked on both front end and back end components of the system.

Early in their career, Adam gained experience as a Resident Advisor in the Student Life Team at Arthur V. Mauro Residence in 2003-2004. In this role, they were responsible for the well-being of approximately 315 students and worked closely with a team to address community issues and organize social events.

Adam Hughes completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science from the University of Manitoba, where they attended from 2001 to 2005.
