Kristian Reckzeh

Senior Scientist at Symphogen

Kristian Reckzeh has a diverse work experience in the field of biomedicine and stem cell biology. Kristian is currently working as a Senior Scientist at Symphogen since 2022. Prior to this, they worked as an Assistant Professor at the Biotech Research & Innovation Centre (BRIC), University of Copenhagen from 2018 to 2022. During this role, they received the BII Proof-of-Concept Award and conducted preclinical testing and pharmacological studies of ADCs in PDX models of AML and Advanced systemic mastocytosis. Kristian also identified cancer-specific cell surface molecules for targeted therapies.

Before joining BRIC, Kristian worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Biotech Research and Innovation Centre and The Finsen Laboratory, University of Copenhagen from 2013 to 2018. Here, they focused on identifying novel targets in AML, conducting preclinical testing and formulation of small molecule inhibitors in AML and patient-derived xenograft (PDX)-models, and antibody production and purification.

From 2012 to 2013, Kristian worked as a Postdoctoral Scientist at Lund University, where they conducted research on surface proteins on CML stem cells, ADCC methodologies for CML therapy, xenograft models for CML, and conjugation of monoclonal antibodies.

Kristian's academic journey began with a Ph.D. in Biomedicine, Stem Cell Biology from Lund Stem Cell Center, which they completed from 2006 to 2012. In this role, they focused on generating mouse models for Acute Myeloid Leukemia, protein expression methodologies, suspension cell culture of human cell lines, and in vivo assessment of hematopoietic stem cells in transplantation models.

Prior to their Ph.D., Kristian participated in the Stem Cell Biology program at the Medical Faculty of Lund University from 2005 to 2006.

Before their academic journey, Kristian gained research experience as a Research Trainee at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in 2003, where they worked on cell culture techniques and molecular diagnostics. Kristian also worked as a Student Worker at BerlinHeart AG from 2001 to 2003.

Kristian Reckzeh earned a PhD degree in Biomedicine, specifically in the field of Stem Cell Biology, from Lund University. Kristian completed this program between 2006 and 2012. Before that, they obtained a Dipl.-Ing. degree in Medical Biotechnology from Technische Universität Berlin, which they pursued from 1998 to 2004. In addition to their formal education, Kristian also holds certifications in Radioactive isotops and ionising radiation from Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, which they obtained in January 2014, and FELASA C certification from the FEDERATION OF EUROPEAN LABORATORY ANIMAL SCIENCE ASSOCIATIONS, which they acquired in January 2010.
