Mark Gowans

Director, EMEA Technical Account Management at Symphony

Mark Gowans has a diverse work experience in the finance and technology industries. Mark started their career in 2001 at Goldman Sachs, where they worked in the Market Data Infrastructure Management Group, supporting and monitoring TIBCo and TRIARCH infrastructure. In 2003, they joined Credit Suisse as Vice President, responsible for Market Data Engineering and integration projects. During their time at Credit Suisse, they also led the design and implementation of the RMDS 5/6 environment and migrated applications from legacy platforms.

In 2009, Mark moved to RBC Capital Markets as the EMEA Market Data Manager, where they focused on RMDS 5/6 design, implementation, and support, as well as Solace design and implementation.

From 2010 to 2019, Mark worked at Bloomberg LP, holding various roles. As an Account Manager in the Enterprise Content & Distribution team, they had global and regional responsibilities, particularly in German speaking Europe, Russia, France, and Eastern Europe. Mark then became the Head of Enterprise Technical Account Management for EMEA, managing a team of Technical Account Managers and providing technical consultancy to clients. In their most recent role at Bloomberg, Mark was the Enterprise Sales - Real Time Specialist, specializing in large scale competitor displacements and providing solutions architecture.

Since 2019, Mark has been working at Symphony.com as the Director of EMEA Technical Account Management, overseeing a team of Technical Account Managers and handling Tier 1 and Tier 2 customers. Mark'srole includes aligning with sales and product teams for solution building, managing relationships with senior stakeholders, and ensuring customer retention and growth.

Overall, throughout their career, Mark has demonstrated expertise in technical account management, sales, project management, and solution architecture in the finance and technology sectors.

Mark Gowans attended Imperial College London from 1997 to 2001, where they obtained a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Computer Science. Prior to that, they attended Whitgift School in Croydon from 1989 to 1997. In addition to their academic qualifications, Mark obtained a PRINCE2 Practitioner certification in October 2011.
