William (Bill) SHEPARD

Principal Beamline Scientist PROXIMA 2 at SYNCHROTRON SOLEIL

Bill Shepard has over 30 years of experience in the field of synchrotron beamline research. William (Bill) started their career as a Crystallography Technician at The University of Auckland in 1985, where they worked until 1987. William (Bill) then joined LURE, Universite Paris-Sud, France, as a Beamline Responsible for DW21b from 1991 to 2000. After that, they worked at the ESRF - European Radiation Synchrotron Facility as a Beamline Scientist for the ID29 beamline from 2000 to 2005. William (Bill) is currently working at Synchrotron SOLEIL as the Principal Beamline Scientist for PROXIMA 2, which specializes in macromolecular crystallography studies. Bill also collaborated with research groups at the Pasteur Institute in Paris. Additionally, in 2010, they co-organized a course at the MX Course, Pasteur Institute, Montevideo, Uruguay.

William Shepard completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) with Honors in Chemistry at the University of Canterbury from 1981 to 1985. Subsequently, they pursued their doctoral studies at Massey University from 1987 to 1991, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemistry and Biochemistry.
