Job description

                                                 T-Cypher Bio

Senior Scientist – Tumour Biologist, Target Development

T-Cypher Bio is an early-stage, innovative biotechnology company aiming to unlock an expansive target space to build a pipeline of novel, T-cell receptor (TCR)-based therapeutics. We are seeking a highly motivated senior scientist with a strong cancer biology, molecular biology and target validation background to develop our T-cell therapeutics platform.

What you will do

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced tumour biologist to join our research team. The primary focus of this role is to design, execute, and analyze experiments to demonstrate target drugability using cell lines and patient samples. Techniques will include, characterization of pHLA presentation on cancer cells, editing of targets in cell lines, cell cytotoxicity assays, cell staining techniques, and FACS. You will utilize these advanced molecular and cellular biology tools to assess the therapeutic potential and biological relevance of specific targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute experiments utilizing knock-in and knock-out methodologies to precisely validate peptide:HLA targets.
  • Perform clonal expansion, cell proliferation, survival & drug resistance analysis on modified cell lines.
  • Work extensively with primary patient samples and primary cell lines to evaluate target relevance.
  • Perform FACS-based assays to study cell populations, cellular signalling, and functional responses related to TCR-targeting.
  • Utilize cell staining assays to assess target localization & peptide presentation.
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in molecular biology methodologies to incorporate innovative approaches into target validation strategies.
  • Analysing & presenting results in a concise and accurate manner to the wider team.
  • Influence group and project meetings, offering insights and expertise to advance research projects.

To be successful you will need

  • You will ideally hold a PhD in Immunology/cell biology/molecular biology (or similar) and have 2+ years relevant experience in target validation & cancer biology.
  • Expertise in knock-in & knock-out approaches (eg CRISPR), cell staining, FACS and Q-PCR
  • Expertise working with cell line culture, primary patient samples and primary cell lines.
  • Proficiency in molecular and cellular biology techniques, including molecular cloning, vector design, PCR and gene expression analysis
  • Experience with analyzing and interpreting RNA-seq data, immunofluorescence images, FACS data, and primary cell line experiments.
  • Experience working to procure primary tumour samples from biobanks and collaborators.
  • Experience with high-throughput screening techniques, molecular imaging, or single-cell analysis platforms is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of T cell biology for optimisation of lead targets.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced, dynamic research environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to screen and prioritize targets in a high throughput manner.
  • Strong drive to deliver on company milestones and goals.
  • Demonstrated ability of platform/protocol enhancements & improvements.
