Katherine Bergeron's work experience begins with their role at Taking Root as a Reforestation Project Manager starting in 2022. In this position, they support the organization's partners in Latin America and Africa to implement agroforestry projects and develop sustainable supply chains. Prior to this, they worked as a Partnerships and Project Developer at Taking Root from 2021 to 2022, where they focused on business development and creating collaborative projects involving reforestation with smallholder farmers. Before joining Taking Root, Katherine was the owner of Earth Tone Studios since 2014, where they provided consulting services to social enterprises in program development and fundraising. Katherine also worked as an Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Advisor at SUCO from 2019 to 2020, supporting the capacity building of entrepreneurial farmers. At Shopify, Katherine held two roles: Retail Service Specialist from 2018 to 2019, and Customer Success Manager from 2017 to 2018. In these positions, they provided support to retail teams, integrated social and environmental sustainability into the brand, and coached merchants on various solutions. Lastly, Katherine worked as a Project Engineer at Vertex Resource Group Ltd. from 2013 to 2014, ensuring regulatory compliance for energy and environmental projects.
Katherine Bergeron has a diverse education history. Katherine first attended John Abbott College from 2005 to 2007, where they obtained a Diploma of Collegiate Studies in Commerce. Katherine then pursued their undergraduate studies at McGill University from 2007 to 2012, completing a Bachelor's degree in Bioresource Engineering. In 2011, they took part in a Study Abroad Semester at Nanyang Technological University Singapore, focusing on Environmental Engineering.
