Paul Congdon

CTO at Tallac Networks

Paul Congdon has a diverse work experience in the technology industry. Paul'smost recent role is as the Owner of Congdon Consulting, LLC, which they have held since July 2020. Prior to this, they worked as the IEEE 802.1 Maintenance Task Group Chair at IEEE starting in July 2018.

From 2013 to the present, Paul held the position of CTO at Tallac Networks. Paul was responsible for the technical leadership of the company.

Paul also has experience in the Open Networking Foundation, where they served as the Chair of the Wireless and Mobile Working Group from June 2014 to March 2015. In this role, they worked on defining SDN solutions for wireless and mobile domains.

Before joining Tallac Networks and the Open Networking Foundation, Paul worked as an HP Fellow at HP Labs from February 2011 to February 2013. Paul holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and worked at UC Davis from September 2007 to May 2012, where they focused on enhancing Ethernet switching in data centers.

Paul has a longstanding involvement with IEEE, where they served as the Vice Chair at IEEE 802.1 from March 2006 to March 2012. Paul also held the role of CTO at ProCurve Networking by HP from February 2002 to May 2010, and Chief Architect at HP ProCurve Networking Business from January 1996 to January 2002.

Paul'searliest work experience was as an Engineer at HP Roseville Networks Division, where they worked on various networking technologies such as FDDI, Switches, and Routers from 1989 to 1995.

Paul Congdon earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Davis, where they studied from 2007 to 2012. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science from California State University, Chico, where they attended from 1982 to 1985.
