Isabel Chien

Isabel Chien is a Machine Learning Research Scientist at Tandem since March 2025, following a PhD research role focused on fair machine learning for healthcare at the University of Cambridge from September 2020 to February 2025, with an expected graduation in early 2025. Prior experience includes research internships at Microsoft in 2023 and a research software engineering position from 2018 to 2020, where Isabel contributed to applied machine learning research related to mental health. Previous roles also include research assistant positions at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and MIT CSAIL, focusing on natural language processing and melanoma patient analysis. Isabel holds a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
