Install new / rebuild existing servers and network equipment
Implement or conduct server/network security audits, server, network hardening, system backup and recovery process, review system/application logs and scan results, user access reviews, documentation, and all other tasks in accordance with the company’s most current IT Policies and Procedures.
Create/Modify system or application-level user accounts, permissions, password changes, security groups, Active Directory organizational units, and group policies.
Support and assist with installing, upgrading, or changing corporate (onsite) and co-location (offsite/data center) server/network hardware equipment, software, and cabling.
Microsoft SQL database administration (ability to perform backup/restore of databases and execute SQL scripts when required).
First point of contact to help resolve end-users technical issues raised via tickets, email, phone, and/or in-person and escalate issues as necessary.
Help apply software patches and firmware upgrades on a regular basis.
Perform ongoing system performance tuning and regular monitoring to identify and help mitigate network attacks or service outages.
Coordinate with vendors and business partners to facilitate IT purchases or service activations.
Participation in emergency support during regular business hours, occasional after-hours, and weekend work including any planned network/server maintenance.
Assist with compliance regulatory audit requirements including the sampling of data, evidence gathering, documentation and uploading etc.
Tracking of Asset Management for company-owned IT equipment.
Assist with completing IT Security questionnaires, RFPs, and reviewing IT Policies.
Guide and coach other team members.
Interact with staff, clients, and third parties as necessary to implement infrastructure changes or troubleshoot identified incidents.
Communicate all applicable IT-related issues and changes including planned/unplanned maintenance announcements or service outages to end-users and/or responsible stakeholders.
Perform Privacy and Security training as required.
Travelling to Data Center facilities for site visits and service implementation as required.
Does this sound like you?
Minimum of 5 years of full-time work experience as a Systems/Network Administrator, Systems/Network Engineer, or a similar role.
Strong understanding and hands-on work experience in administering and managing Microsoft Active Directory, VMWare virtualization (utilizing ESX hypervisor), Windows Server 2016 OS (and above) and Windows 10 OS (and above) are a must.
Intermediate to advanced level knowledge in understanding and/or troubleshooting of TCP/IP networks, LAN/WAN concepts, Firewall ACLs, DNS/DHCP management, and other related technologies.
Fundamental understanding of Cloud Technologies such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services is an asset
Superior time management and prioritization skills including the ability to multi-task.
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills allowing efficient and effective identification of problems and the ability to apply appropriate solutions.
Self-starter that can work in an agile environment with little oversight and direction.
Aptitude and enthusiasm to learn and implement new technologies.
Be available to work “on-call” schedule during off-hours/weekends or holidays.
Be able to physically lift equipment weighing up to 35 lbs.
Must have a valid driver’s license (for making data center visits, picking up parts, etc.).
University degree in Computer Engineering, or an acceptable combination of related technical education with work experience.
Technical Certifications (Microsoft, VMware, Fortinet, Azure, etc.) would be an asset.
Understanding ITIL processes including Problem and Change Management, Incident Management is an asset.
