Job description

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Past relevant work experience in a broadcast setting preferred.

  • Proficient in the operation of computer-based video distribution systems and broadcast equipment.

  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays, as broadcasting demands.

  • Ability to physically sit, visually monitor, and tactically manipulate NOC equipment.

SKILLS:

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating broadcast automation systems, familiarity with video servers, routers, switchers, and strong troubleshooting abilities. Experience with video editing software.

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to monitor multiple sources simultaneously, ensuring accuracy and quality in transmission.

  • Problem-solving: Capacity to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently, particularly in high-pressure situations.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Broadcast Control: Operate and monitor equipment responsible for the transmission and reception of television programming, ensuring accuracy and adherence to schedule.
  • Technical Expertise: Manage broadcast automation systems, video servers, switchers, routers, and other broadcast-related equipment to maintain seamless operations. Creates, edits, and executes playlists on various automation systems.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct regular checks to guarantee the quality of incoming and outgoing feeds, troubleshoot technical issues, and resolve them promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Compliance: Ensure that broadcasts comply with regulatory standards, including audio and video quality, closed captioning, and other legal requirements.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments such as engineering, production, and programming to execute live events, scheduled shows, and special broadcasts. Assists the Traffic Department in the processing, quality control checks, cataloging, and recording of new content received from external sources.
  • Emergency Response: Act swiftly during technical failures or emergencies to implement backup plans and minimize interruptions to broadcasts.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate logs and records of all broadcast activities, including issues encountered and solutions applied.
  • Adaptability: Stay updated on technological advancements in broadcasting equipment and techniques, implementing improvements as necessary.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
