Emily Crump has a diverse work experience in the field of education. Emily started their career as a Teach For America Corps Member from 2008 to 2010. Emily then worked as a 6th Grade Bilingual Teacher for the NYC Department of Education from 2008 to 2010. Emily joined Lighthouse Charter School as a Founding ELL Coordinator/Teacher from 2010 to 2011. Emily was responsible for launching and instructing the ELL program. Emily then worked at Brooke Charter Schools, where they served as a Founding Kindergarten Teacher, Mentor Kindergarten Teacher, and later as a First Grade Teacher from 2011 to 2015. During their time at Brooke Charter Schools, they also participated in planning, hiring, and student recruitment activities. In 2015, Emily served as an English Teaching Assistant at the Fulbright Commission in Brazil. Emily delivered English instruction to multi-language learners at Universidade Federal do Reconcavo da Bahia. From 2015 to 2018, Emily was the Director of Operations at Brooke Charter Schools, where they established operational practices and managed the operations team. Emily'smost recent position is with Teach For America, where they have held various senior managing director roles since 2018. In their current position, Emily is responsible for talent management, school and community partnerships, recruitment, and leadership support.
Emily Crump attended Harvard University from 2004 to 2008, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Latin American Studies. Following their time at Harvard, they pursued further education at the City University of New York-Herbert H. Lehman College from 2008 to 2010. During this period, they obtained a Master's degree in Elementary Education and Teaching.
