Job description

Team Rubicon (TR) is seeking a Senior Associate, Institutional Giving (Grant Writer). The Senior Associate, Institutional Giving (Grant Writer) will develop and advance strategic fundraising goals while creating meaningful relationships with our passionate donor base. This will require the ability to navigate complex org charts, budgets, and calendars to inform proposals, access grant opportunities, and ensure high-quality, timely, and accurate reports. The Senior Associate, Institutional Giving (Grant Writer) will be responsible for submitting grant solicitations (proposals, Letter of Inquiry, Request for Applications), and grant reports (expense reports, impact reports) for grants ranging between $25,000 - $500,000. 

Every day will be a challenge, but every month brings new opportunities for an organization that is quickly becoming a household name in disaster response. This position reports to TR’s Manager, Institutional Giving (Grants) and is based remote within the United States.

Duties: 

  • Establish and maintain personal contact and relationships with all TR offices. 
  • Develop and write grant proposals for corporate, foundation, nonprofit, and government donors. 
  • Assemble and submit grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations. 
  • Ensure that all grant writing and reporting complies with specific donor rules and regulations. 
  • Keep multiple projects moving promptly, meeting deadlines, and managing supplemental materials and activities required for proposals. 
  • Work with Finance, Operations, Technology, and People Operations to gather information necessary to report to funders. 
  • Persuasively communicate the organization's mission and programs, including intended inputs to outcomes (and everything between), to potential funders and provide stewardship to donors, in coordination with TR Development team members. 
  • Ensure that all grant writing and reporting complies with specific donor rules and regulations. 
  • Work closely with our data and compliance team to ensure accurate impact reporting for donors when requested. 
  • Provide stewardship to donors, in coordination with TR Development team members. 

Experience and Background: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Creative Writing, International Relations/Affairs, or relevant field  
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in grant writing or non-profit program development  
  • Experience with proposal writing
  • Experience working with donors, executive leadership teams, C-Suite, etc.
  • Strong external communication skills: ability to work with high-level corporate and foundation donors
  • Excellent written communication skills: ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate clearly with internal team members and with external stakeholders, including donors
  • Experience with data collection and impact storytelling is a plus 

Special Requirements:  

  • This is full-time; remote and the position can be anywhere within the United States and provides a flexible & non-traditional work schedule (relocation expenses not provided)   
  • Other Travel: At least 10% non-local travel to support broader organizational activities focused within the assigned territory

Pay Range: 

  • $59,392.80 – $101,238.00 per year
