Tom Ayres

Tom Ayres is our Vice President and General Counsel, responsible for providing legal services and overall administration of our legal team.

Tom provides counsel for a wide range of litigation in the areas of public safety and consumer protection, prosecuting offences under the legislation administered by TSSA and representing us at judicial review proceedings, statutory appeals and administrative tribunals.

Before joining us in 1996, Tom was legal counsel for the Technical Standards Division at the Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations. He was project lead in the creation of the Technical Standards and Safety Act and its 17 associated regulations.

Tom received his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario and was called to the bar in 1988. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science).
