Gerardo Melia has a diverse work experience in software engineering roles. Gerardo started their career as a Junior Java Developer at Universia, where they worked on designing and developing a framework for consuming content from Alfresco and generating web portals for the Universia education portal. Gerardo then joined Sistema Nacional de Medios Públicos as a Semi Senior Java Developer, where they designed and implemented a national broadcasting channel portal integrated with a Content Management System.

After that, Gerardo worked as a Teacher at LIFIA, where they taught courses on Web Architectures, Spring, Spring MVC, Maven, Hibernate, and jUnit. Gerardo also worked as a Full Stack Developer at LIFIA, where they were responsible for designing, architecting, and implementing a Social Network and messaging app in native Android, facilitating interaction among members of the educational community.

Gerardo then worked as a Senior Java Developer at an Independent company before joining Despegar.com as a Senior Software Backend Engineer. At Despegar.com, they were involved in the design, implementation, and definition of stories for an application that sends deals to clients based on their search history on the site.

Currently, Gerardo is working at Tenpo, starting as a Senior Software Engineer and later transitioning to the role of Software Engineer Manager. In their role as a Technical Lead, they are responsible for building and maintaining distributed applications and improving their reliability, scalability, observability, and performance. Gerardo collaborates with the Data Science team to develop new features and optimize existing ones. As a Manager, they oversee the technology platform of the risk team for credit cards, designing and developing the risk architecture, selecting providers, and managing the team. Gerardo is experienced in various technologies such as Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Kafka, Socket, Hazelcast, Cassandra, Hibernate, RabbitMQ, Node.js, Elastic Search, Kibana, Docker, and more.

Gerardo Melia's education history begins with their enrollment at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata in 2006, where they pursued a Licentiate in Informatics (equivalent to a M.Sc.) with a focus on Computer Science. Gerardo successfully completed this program in 2016. Prior to their university studies, Gerardo also attended the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, where they obtained a degree in Computer Analysis.
