Eugene Billiot

Professor, College of Science, Physical & Environmental Sciences at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi

Eugene Joseph Billiot was born in Brownsville, Texas. He is the third of twelve children. He attended three different colleges and universities. Shortly after graduation from high school, he attended Saint Joseph Seminary College in Covington, Louisiana, where he studied philosophy and religion. Next, he attended Nicholls State University where he got a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 1992. Shortly after graduation from Nicholls State University, he started graduate school at Louisiana State University. He received his Ph.D in Chemistry in 1998 under the direction of Dr. Isiah M. Warner. His dissertation work has centered on the understanding of the chiral interactions responsible for enantiomeric recognition with polymerized amino acid based surfactants.
