Jeff Carillo has over 10 years of professional work experience. Jeff began their career as a Freelance Writer for the Contra Costa Times in 2010. In 2012, they joined Bleacher Report as an App Programmer and worked their way up to Assistant Lead College Sports Programmer. In 2019, they moved to The Athletic as a Manager, Content Programming. In 2020, they became the Director, Data & Content at PickUp and the Content Operations Manager at News Break. In 2022, they began working as a Senior Programming Manager at Action Network. During their time at News Break, they implemented a breaking news programming strategy, drove over 8.9 million users to the NewsBreak app during the 2020 Election week, and drove a 6.01% CTR on Election week push notifications. At The Athletic, they built the Programming strategy from the ground up, crafted style guides, trained associates, and expanded coverage and content distribution from 0 to 240-plus teams and leagues. At Bleacher Report, they enhanced copy, devised app alert plans, led Team Stream's 'live substream' project, improved user experience, managed a 6-person team, achieved 77% of college football traffic via Team Stream mobile alerts, and drove a company initiative to develop young-athlete relations.

Jeff Carillo began their education in 2003 at Hercules High School. Jeff then attended Contra Costa College from 2007 to 2009, studying Journalism. After that, they attended the University of California, Berkeley from 2009 to 2011 and earned a B.A in American Studies and Organizational Theory and Business Management.
