Jay Ockers

Jay Ockers is the current Head of Engineering at The Boardlist. Prior to this, Jay was a Senior Engineering Manager at Guild Education from February 2020 to June 2021. Before that, Jay was the Director of Engineering, Professional Services at GoSpotCheck from April 2019 to January 2020. Jay's previous role was as Software Engineering Manager & eCommerce Platform Manager at Fanatics, Inc. from March 2016 to March 2019. In this role, Jay was responsible for guiding the engineering effort on a multi-billion dollar eCommerce platform, owning all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, and operational support. Jay also contributed in a hands-on manner to the development of the Cloud Commerce platforms, the underlying infrastructure, and tools, delivering high-quality, robust code, while leading scalability efforts that have supported peak usage growth of 50%. Other notable achievements include implementing process changes that improved mobile app stability from 95% to 99.8%, while growing revenue on mobile applications by 20% YoY. Jay has also managed a staff of 20 Engineers who are spread over 3 platform teams.

Jay Ockers attended the University of Wyoming and earned a Master of Business Administration - MBA with a focus in e-Business. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science - BS in Management Information Systems also from the University of Wyoming.

Their manager is Shannon Gordon, CEO. They are on a team with Megan Wang - COO, Austin Henggeler - Head of Partnerships, and Nicole Kyner - Head of Search.
