Randy Wiemers

Climate Research Farm Lead at The Climate Corporation

Randy Wiemers has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Randy started their career in 1989 at IBP INC, where they worked in procurement operations. Randy then transitioned to Fostoria Cooperative Elevator Company as an Agronomy Sales and Service representative. In 1990, they embarked on their own independent farming operation, where they owned and operated a grain and livestock farm in NW Iowa. During this time, they gained experience in growing crops such as corn, soybeans, and alfalfa, as well as managing a farrow to finish swine operation and a cow/calf operation.

In 2002, Randy joined Monsanto Company as a Research Assistant II, participating in hybrid development and testing. Randy was responsible for various tasks related to seed processing, packaging, planting, harvesting, and data collection for the Yield Trial Testing Program. Randy also supported the Testing and Operations Manager and managed the database for trial mapping and field layout.

In 2014, Randy became a Climate Field Research Lead at The Climate Corporation, where they managed one of their Research Farms, executing field scale research trials. Randy worked closely with research scientists, delivering all requirements of specific protocols and collaborating across multiple teams and managers.

In 2018, Randy joined Bayer Crop Science as a Field Testing Agronomist, administering and maintaining R&D Field Testing locations in Northwest Iowa. Randy collaborated with scientists and plant breeders, executed trial planting, managed plot maintenance and data collection, and ensured compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements.

Most recently, Randy joined Climate in 2021 as a Climate Research Farm Lead. Randy manages one of five Research Farms in the US, conducting field trials based on protocols designed by research scientists. Randy engages and recruits growers as research partners and ensures timely data delivery.

Randy Wiemers obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Agricultural Business and Management from South Dakota State University from 1983 to 1988. Randy also completed one year of study focusing on Finance and Business Management at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville from 1985 to 1986. In addition, they hold additional certifications, including a UAV Part 107 Airman Certificate obtained from the FAA in April 2018 and a Private Pesticide Applicators License from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.
