Daniel Cordaro

Chief Equanimity Officer at The Contentment Foundation

Daniel Cordaro has a diverse work experience. Daniel is currently working as the Chief Equanimity Officer at The Contentment Foundation since May 2016. In this role, they focus on providing tools for self-awareness and emotional intelligence to schools globally, with the aim of improving psychological and emotional health worldwide.

In addition, Daniel is an Adjunct Faculty Member at Columbia University in the City of New York since June 2021.

Previously, they worked as a Faculty Member & Director of Wellbeing at Yale University from January 2014 to December 2017. There, they led a research team that focused on contentment and taught a course on Human Emotion.

Daniel has also worked as a Consultant at XPRIZE from March 2016 to March 2017.

Daniel's earlier experience includes being a Universal Expression Researcher (Graduate Student) at UC Berkeley from May 2009 to September 2014. Daniel also worked as a Human Emotion Researcher at Paul Ekman Group (PEG) during the same period, collaborating with Dr. Paul Ekman on projects related to human expression and deception.

Furthermore, they worked as a Chef de Science at Kitchen on Fire from May 2010 to September 2013.

Daniel Cordaro attended several universities and earned multiple degrees in the field of psychology and chemistry. Daniel began their educational journey at Ithaca College from 2003 to 2007, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in both Organic Chemistry and Chemistry. Daniel then pursued further education at the University of California, Berkeley, starting with a Master of Science (MS) degree in Chemistry from 2007 to 2009.

During this time, Cordaro also completed a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, which they achieved between 2009 and 2011. Daniel continued their education at the same institution and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Psychology from 2009 to 2013. Cordaro then attended Yale University as a Post Doctoral student in Psychology from 2014 to 2015.

Lastly, Cordaro returned to the University of California, Berkeley, and pursued a second Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Psychology from 2010 to 2014.
