Benjamin K. Mayala is an experienced geospatial researcher and manager, currently serving as the Lead Manager of Geospatial Research at The Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) Program since February 2018. With a strong background in geospatial analysis, Mayala has previously worked as a Research Scientist at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, focusing on infectious diseases, and contributed to advanced geospatial models during graduate research at the University of Notre Dame. Mayala's extensive experience also includes roles as a Principal Researcher for the World Health Organisation and a Senior GIS Analyst for CDC-PEPFAR, where efforts were made to enhance HIV/AIDS epidemiological analysis and capacity building. The educational background includes a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences with a focus on Geospatial Modeling from the University of Notre Dame, a Master of Science in GeoInformatics from the University of Twente, and a Bachelor of Science in GeoInformatics from the University of Dar es Salaam.
