Supriya Karekar (Ph.D.) has a diverse work experience in the fields of fermentation, biological systems engineering, chemical and biological processing, nanotechnology, and research. Supriya began their career in 2013 as a Research Trainee at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, where they conducted diversity analysis of Vigna radiate L. Wilczek Varieties and Germplasm Based on SSR Markers. In 2014, they became a Research Scholar at Ramnarain Ruia College, where they worked on the synthesis and characterization of Copper oxide nano particles from plants and their potential application as antimicrobial studies. In 2016, they began working as a Research Assistant at the Institute Of Chemical Technology, where they performed Lipase enzyme immobilization and studied the room temperature synthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles. That same year, they became a Ph.D. Candidate in Biological Systems Engineering at Washington State University. In 2017, they worked as a Researcher at Aalbourg University and as a Research Intern at LanzaTech, where they were successively an operator and site lead. In 2019, they were a Ph.D. intern in the Chemical and Biological Processing group at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory - PNNL. In 2020, they worked as a Scientist I in Fermentation at Zymergen and as a Fermentation Oenologist at J Bookwalter Fiction Winery. Supriya currently holds the role of Fermentation Manager at The EVERY Company, which they began in 2021.

Supriya Karekar received their HSC from the University of Mumbai in 2009, followed by a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Biotechnology from Ramnarain Ruia College in 2012. Supriya then completed their Master of Science (MSc) in Biotechnology from Ramnarain Ruia College in 2014. Finally, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Biological/Biosystems Engineering from Washington State University in 2020.
