Christina Newbrough has worked for a variety of organizations since 2008. Christina began their career as a Field Manager for Grassroots Campaigns, followed by a role as a Development Coordinator for the Bert Corona Leadership Institute. In 2009, they were a Project Manager for IDF Financial Services Private Limited. Christina then moved on to The Urban Institute, Center for International Development & Governance as an International Project Coordinator in 2010. In 2012, they joined TechnoServe as a Grants & Contracts Analyst, West & Southern Africa and was promoted to Senior Grants & Contracts Analyst in the same region. In 2016, they were a Business Operations Associate for Techstars and a Business Development Sales Manager for PopUp Play. In 2017, they were a Board Member for Evolve Austin and a Director Of Strategic Partnerships for The Helper Bees. Finally, in 2018, they joined the SXSW Advisory Board.

Christina Newbrough attended Douglas S. Freeman High School from 2001 to 2005. Christina then obtained a Bachelor's Degree in International Studies and Economics from American University from 2005 to 2009. During their time at American University, Christina also completed a Study Abroad program at Peking University in 2007, where they studied Economics and Chinese Studies.
