Matt Zubrod

Culinary Director at The Little Nell

Matt Zubrod is a renowned chef who has worked in some of the most prestigious kitchens in the country. Matt is currently the Culinary Director at The Little Nell in Aspen, Colorado. Prior to their current position, Zubrod was the Interim Executive Chef at Rancho Valencia from February 2014 to April 2014. Matt then took over as Chef at BB's Aspen from April 2014 to May 2015.

From June 2011 to February 2014, Zubrod served as the Executive Chef/Director of Food and Beverage at Malibu Golf Club. During this time, they oversaw all food and beverage operations for the club, including catering and special events. From January 2009 to June 2011, Zubrod was the Executive Chef and Managing Partner at Monette's Mauna Kea Resort in Hawaii. Matt was responsible for all aspects of the resort's culinary operations, including menu development, kitchen staff management, and food quality control.

Prior to their work at Monette's Mauna Kea Resort, Zubrod owned and operated DishAspen, a successful catering company in Aspen, Colorado. From January 2006 to January 2009, they provided high-end catering services for a variety of clients, including private parties, corporate events, and weddings. Before DishAspen, Zubrod was the Executive Chef and Food and Beverage Director at The Ritz-Carlton Aspen Highlands from January 2001 to January 2006. During their tenure at The Ritz-Carlton, they oversaw all aspects of the property's food and beverage operations, including fine dining, banquets, and room service.

Zubrod began their career as a Banquet Chef at Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, California from January 1998 to January 1999. Matt then took on the role of Executive Chef at Jimmy's Fierce American Food Company from January 1999 to January 2000. In 2000, Zubrod moved to Vail, Colorado to take over as Executive Chef and Head of Apprenticeship Program at Vail Cascade Club and Spa. Matt held this position for one year before moving on to their current position at The Little Nell in Aspen.

After completing their undergraduate degree at Newbury College, Matt Zubrod attended the University of Maine where they earned their degree in education.

Matt Zubrod reports to Jonathan Fillman, General Manager. They are on a team with Darien Vickery - General Manager, Sundeck & Aspen Mountain Club, Mark Elias - Director of Sales, and Shawna Rockey - Director of Events.
