John Tien

John Tien is a prominent leader with extensive experience in both public service and organizational governance. Currently serving on the Supervisory Board of The Mission Continues and as a member of the Board of Directors for Union Pacific Railroad and Avalon Action Alliance, John Tien also holds the position of Senior Fellow at Harvard's Belfer Center. Prior to these roles, John Tien served as Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security, where responsibilities included acting as Chief Operating Officer of the agency, one of the largest in the U.S. federal government. John's leadership experience extends to multiple advisory and council roles with reputable organizations including the Schultz Family Foundation and The Carter Center. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a Rhodes Scholarship at the University of Oxford with a focus on Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, and a fellowship in National Security from Harvard Kennedy School.
