Andrew Poniris has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Andrew started their career in 2010 as an IT Technician at an undisclosed company. In 2012, they joined the US Army where they served as a Military Police Officer. During their time in the military, Andrew assisted with creating and improving standard operating procedures, trained personnel on law enforcement procedures, and supervised direct reports. In 2018, they transitioned to Fort Lee Federal Credit Union where they held roles as a Member Service Advisor and Physical Security Officer. In 2021, Andrew moved to Argent Credit Union as a Risk Management Officer. Currently, they are working as a Security Manager at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley starting in December 2022.
Andrew Poniris earned an Associate's degree in Public Safety and Emergency Management from Grand Canyon University between 2016 and 2019. Andrew then continued their education at the same university and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Public Safety and Emergency Management during the same time period.
In addition to their degrees, Andrew holds several certifications. In October 2022, they obtained the Anti-Terrorism Officer certification from the US Army. Andrew also completed the Protective Service Detail certification in September 2019, the Advanced Leaders Course in April 2019, the Physical Security Certification (PSC) in October 2017, the Special Reactions Team certification in June 2016, and the Basic Leaders Course in May 2016, all from the US Army.
Andrew further expanded their knowledge with certifications outside the military. In October 2021, they obtained the Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE) certification from CUNA Mutual Group, and in May 2021, they earned the Bank Secrecy Act Compliance Specialist (BSACS) certification both from CUNA Mutual Group and NASCUS. Additionally, they obtained the Notary Public Commission from Prince George's County in December 2018.
