Conservation & Community Impact Lead at The Nature Conservancy

Jacquelyn Wallace has a diverse and extensive work history in the field of conservation and community impact. Jacquelyn is currently working at The Nature Conservancy as a Conservation & Community Impact Lead. Prior to that, they held the role of Washington Water Project Manager at Trout Unlimited, where they oversaw and directed numerous water and land transactions to benefit the environment and communities in the Upper Columbia River Basin. Jacquelyn also played a key role in securing funding for community water banks in Washington's headwater communities.

Before joining Trout Unlimited, Jacquelyn served as the Conservation Director at Okanogan Land Trust, where they built and led conservation and stewardship programs. Jacquelyn successfully directed and negotiated land transactions on 30,000 acres of important conservation areas and secured significant funding for the organization. Additionally, they worked at EnviroIssues as a Community Engagement Associate, where they designed and managed nationwide convenings and conferences focused on landscape conservation and climate science.

Jacquelyn also gained valuable experience as the Conservation Program Manager at the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, where they developed and directed a program to promote nature-friendly land use planning practices. Jacquelyn spearheaded the Green Growth Toolbox initiative, which led to improvements in land use planning and policy in multiple communities. Prior to that, they worked as the Parks & Open Space Program Coordinator at Wake County, assisting with real estate transactions and land management programs.

Jacquelyn Wallace holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from The University of the South. Jacquelyn then pursued a Master of Natural Resources degree with a specialization in Natural Resource Policy & Administration at North Carolina State University. Additionally, they were a Fellow at the North Carolina Natural Resources Leadership Institute. In 2014, Jacquelyn participated in the Kinship Conservation Fellows program. Most recently, in 2022-2023, they completed the One Conservancy Leadership Development Program at Cambridge Judge Business School.
